With some public wi-fi networks, you don't need a password. All our Hubs have wi-fi as standard, and it's easy to connect a whole range of computers and devices to them. All you need is the Hub's network name and password.
For instructions on how to connect your games console to your BT Hub, have a look at the manufacturer's website. Hi its asks me to enter my password which I do and it tries to authenticatend but keeps throwing me back to entering my password.

Sorry to hear you are having an issue with equipment after the upgrade to the telephone system. To get the older handset to work with the newer hub, you need to re-register the handset from the v1.x hub, the register it with the v2 hub. There's help on the BT website - click here. That should be all you need. With BT Broadband Talk activated, and the phone 'paired' to your Home Hub, you should be able to send and receive calls over the Internet. If you have a BT Home Hub v1 or v1.5 with a Hub Phone 1010 or 1020, you can still use these phones if you have a BT Home Hub V2. Prices for calls routed over the 'Net can be a lot cheaper - for example, a call to the US peak rate costs 15p a minute, but only 1.25p over BT Broadband talk. There's a handy calculator here.

Hold down the Windows key + D together to enter desktop mode. Windows 8 shows an icon in the task tray to confirm that the wireless adapter is installed. To get the best possible wireless performance we recommend a dual band wireless adapter. You can get a special phone for use with your Hub - the BT Hub Phone. With a BT Home hub, it's possible to make and receive calls over Broadband using BT Broadband Talk, and either a BT Hub Phone, a standard telephone or a DECT phone.
To use a standard or DECT phone, you'll need to use the converter that's supplied with the Home Hub. This has a green connector, and plugs into the green Phone socket at the rear of the Home Hub. I live in an old cottage and already have 3 Wi-Fi discs to overcome the issue of thick walls limiting the wifi signal from the hub so its the same issue I guess with DECT radio coverage. I think I will have to go the route of using the adapter for an analogue phone.

Here's some help and advice. The phones do not use wifi, they use DECT. The DECT base station is in the Smart Hub 2. This includes information for tablets and Kindles, not just mobiles. Use the search to find instructions for your particular device. Next, click on a dropdown to get help connecting different devices and operating systems.
Click on the dropdown for your Hub to get started. Virgin have recently switched us over from the old BT phone socket to a phone socket attached to the Virgin Hub. You should now be connected to your Hub. You might see an option for network sharing. This completes the connection.
Click on Connect to continue. If your computer has built-in wireless, turn it on by either using the wireless switch or activating wireless from within the wireless software. Or to arrange a chargeable engineer to move the Virgin socket to the bedroom, but that would disable other equipment in the living room. As the Virgin hub is in a different room , the important equipment is no longer active. The BIG problem is that there is some lifesaving equipment in a bedroom that is plugged in to a BT extension socket.
I just find it disappointing that its the community who understand the issue, whereas BT Technical Support seem completely unaware and pass out incorrect information. You will now be prompted to enter your Hub's wireless key. You'll need to do this again in the "Confirm network key" text box. You can use these instruction to set up connections to other wi-fi networks. Once you've identified the network you want to connect to, then put in the network password to join it.
If your computer does not have inbuilt wireless, make sure that you that have correctly installed a wireless adapter following the adapter manufacturer's instructions. Your wireless adapter must be 802.11b, g or n compliant. Probably the digital voice adapter may be the only solution, as I am not aware of a DECT repeater that works with the home hub. You can of course plug an existing system into the adapter. Make sure that you that have a wireless adapter installed, or install one following the adapter manufacturer's instructions. If you're using a laptop with built-in wireless, turn wireless on by either using the wireless switch or activating wireless from within your wireless software.
To have a BT Broadband Talk account. You'll be given a Broadband Talk phone number , and a password. You'll now see some final options that allow you to save the settings you have just entered, and to automatically connect to your Hub when your computer starts. You will now be shown a list of networks that your PC can see. Find your Hub's name in the list and click on it.
